David Johnson and Louise Engel have poured their hearts into this 23 acre, eco-friendly estate tucked into the Niagara Escarpment in the Twenty Mile Bench appellation. Insecticide-free, the vineyard plants are trimmed by grazing sheep, grape-thieving starlings are warded off by falcons that Louise has trained. Pristine, racy Riesling best captures the terrior in the Black Sheep label. Award winning Sauvignon Blanc, Rose and Cabernet Franc, as well as Chardonnay aged in Canadian oak barrels, round out the portfolio. The veranda wrapping the classic country farmhouse is one of the most tranquil spots in Niagara for a weekend cheese board and a glass of wine.
