De Toren Private Cellar is named after the tower in the cellar. The tower is unique in that all wine is moved by gravity by means of this tower and this forms the centre of our wine making philosophy.

Situated in the Polkadraai Hills in Stellenbosch, the winery is dedicated to the five Bordeaux varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot where the vineyards are planted in proportion to the blend of the wine .

De Toren Fusion V – a wine already recognised as a Cape Classic – is the flagship of the De Toren Private Cellar and is continually reaping accolades from all over the world.

De Toren Private Cellar was rated as one of the 20 best new wineries in the world- Food and Wine Magazine USA, November 2004

Over just six vintages, De Toren Fusion V has gathered the highest praise, both locally and internationally. The maiden vintage Fusion V 1999, was awarded an unprecedented 90 points by Robert Parker and Wine Spectator. The 2000, 2001, 2003, and 2004 vintages were all rated 91 points and the 2005 vintage 92 points by the influential Wine Spectator Magazine in the USA. The 2006 vintage received 5 stars in The influential John Platter Guide.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Rex Pickett, Sideways

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable: A Tipsy Search

  Best Books of the Year

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
