Bartier and Scholefield have spent the last year working with Alberto Antonini to craft a new winemaking facility that will be their home, Okanagan Crush Pad, located at the Switchback Vineyard in Summerland, BC. Other brands will be made there including Haywire and several others that have yet to be publicly launched. The winemaking facility, which will be completed in late summer 2011, will be like no other in Canada. Dedicated to the production of small wine lots, the facility will ideally be home to several other winemakers. There will be no public spaces, as all resources will have been spent on design and equipment and on a large gathering and workspace for winemakers.
For the 2010 vintage, Bartier and Scholefield made small quantities of a blended white, and a rosé. The debate is ongoing and the ‘narrative’ has yet to be written on future releases. What is known is that whatever they do, Bartier and Scholefield will push boundaries and the results will be a memorable experience for those who love terroir.
