Angove Family Winemakers' history goes back to 1886 when Dr W.T. Angove established a medical practice at Tea Tree Gully near Adelaide and started making wines as a tonic for his patients. Angove was the first winery in Renmark, commencing their first vintage there in 1910 – 100 years ago.
As one of South Australia’s most successful businesses – a fifth-generation family company with a tradition of excellence and an eye for the future - Angove crushes 19,000 tonnes of premium fruit annually to produce wines that are exported globally, including brands such as Vineyard Select, Nine Vines, Long Row, Bear Crossing and Butterfly Ridge.
Angove sources grapes from growers across all of the key regions of South Australia. Their own Medhyk Vineyard at McLaren Vale grows premium Shiraz, Cabernet and Grenache whilst the vast Nanya Vineyard at Paringa with more than 800,000 vines provides roughly 30% of the companies grape requirements.
Angove is committed to the philosophies of family business and remains a proudly independent, family owned and operated company. The Chairman and Managing Director is Mr. John Angove, and two members of the fifth generation, Victoria and Richard, are presently working in key areas of the winery.
