Vintages Wine Picks August 1, 2009

White Wine

Boutari Moschofilero 2008, A.C.Q.S., Mantinia, Greece: Vintages Wine Panel: Moschofilero (mo-sko-FEEL-ero) is a deep pink-skinned grape that is used to produce aromatically intense white wines. Indigenous to Greece, it is reminiscent of Muscat with its impressive floral, grapey and spicy qualities. Its crisp acidity brings a nice balance to the wine. My note: A very simple, light-bodied white with skippy-carefree notes of limes and apricot. No oak. Pair with: mussel pilaf, roasted red mullet. 650671 12% XD 750 mL  $12.95 Score: 85/100.
