Santa Maria Sangiovese 2006, D.O.C. Morellino Di Scansano, Italy: Vintages Wine Panel: Morellino di Scansano was one of the first DOCs in the Maremma coastal zone of Tuscany. They proved that grapes could thrive in this rather swampy land. Producers such as San Guido, makers of Sassacaia, followed the lead to create great wines here.
