Fine tannins give a superbly smooth mouth-feel. More than 90% of the grapes come from Quails' Gate Boucherie Mountain vineyards. Trapiche Syrah 2010, Argentina, Argentina: Vintages Wine Panel: Deep ruby in color, the nose reveals aromas of blackberry, licorice and spices. Full-bodied, soft and spicy, the finish shows some tannic edge. My note: Alluring notes of black raspberries and cherries underlaid with licorice, dark spices and a kick of pepper. Soft polished tannins give this wine a velvet-smooth mouth-feel. Excellent value for this full-bodied, dark-fruited number! Smooth and tasty. Painted Rock Estate Winery Red Icon Cabernet Blend 2008, Okanagan Valley, BC V.Q.A., Canada: A gorgeously rich nose of fleshy dark fruit, violets and cedar smoke. Elegant with lifted mid-palate flavours, then a clean, long finish that leaves you wanting more. Full-bodied, but not heavy. This wine was aged for 18 months in new French oak. This is followed by rich, voluptuous layers of tropical fruit and butterscotch goodness.
