Values Wine Picks March 28, 2011

Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: August 3, June 18, March 5 and February 26.

White Wine

Coopers Creek Vineyard Silver Point Sauvignon Blanc 2009, New Zealand, New Zealand: Lovely, zesty Sauvignon Blanc with aromas of lime, chives and fresh herbs. Not grassy. Lovely bite, incredible price. Terrific, mouth-watering aperitif. Pair with: seafood dishes, especially mussels, oysters and squid. Drink: 2011-2013. 187013 13%  750 mL  $12.95 Score: 89/100. Red Wine

Rocca Delle Mac├Če Chianti Classico 2005, Tuscany, Italy: Juicy with tart cherry notes. This wine was aged in oak for 12 months before bottling. A smoky raspberry finish on the full-bodied red. Drink: 2011-2014. 741769 13% XD 750 mL  $18.95 Score: 87/100. March 28, 2011 Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar
