Vintages Wine Picks March 29, 2014

White Wine

Kim Crawford Small Parcels Spitfire Sauvignon Blanc 2013, Marlborough, New Zealand: This is a bigger wine than the house sauvignon blanc. There's a longer pungency and persistence of flavours. Very mouth-filling and luscious with surprising lift and vibrancy. The grapes for this zesty white are grown in the Growing Horizon Vineyard in central Wairau zone of Marlborough. Drink: 2013-2016. 38240 12.50% XD 750 mL  $25.00 Score: 93/100. March 29, 2014 Top Rated White Wine. Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar

Red Wine

The Black Chook Woop Woop Wines Syrah Shiraz 2012, South Australia, Australia: Surprisingly excellent for the price, wow. This full-bodied red wine is a blend of mostly Shiraz and a splash of Viognier from McLaren Vale and Langhorne Creek. Aromas of blackberry jam lusciousness with some mint. Layers and layers and layers of pleasure. Eyes closed kinda wine. Some violets and cedar on this finish. Highly recommended. Pair with: rosemary lamb. Drink: 2014-2018. 66738 14.50% XD 750 mL  $17.95 Score: 90/100. March 29, 2014 Best Value Red Wine. Luscious Lamb Wine Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar
