Vintages Wine Picks March 29, 2014

White Wine

Joseph Cattin Hatschbourg Grand Cru Pinot Gris 2011, Alsace A.C., France: A touch of sweetness in this medium-bodied white wine makes this dance with glazed ham, Asian dishes and sweet potatoes. This pinot grigio has fantastic aromas and flavours of sweet peach and pear. Great acidity. Yum! Perfect for spicy chicken dishes too. Pair with: seafood, spicy chicken pakoras, blue-veined cheese, dried fruits and nuts, moderately spicy ginger pork. Drink: 2013-2017. 260240 13% M 750 mL  $20.95 Score: 90/100. March 29, 2014 Top Rated White Wine. Spectacular Spicy Wine Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar

Red Wine

Ruffino Ducale Oro Chianti Classico Riserva 2008, D.O.C.G., Tuscany, Italy: Juicy, nuanced and layered with luxurious dark fruit flavours. This is a great candidate for the cellar, though it drinks just fine now, thank-you very much. Liquid velvet in a glass. Perfect for hedonists. Pair with: meat-sauce pasta, meat lovers' pizza, beef stew. Drink: 2012-2017. 353201 13.50% XD 750 mL  $44.95 Score: 93/100. March 29, 2014 Top Rated Red Wine.
