Values Wine Picks June 12, 2009

Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: November 15, October 16, August 3 and June 18.

White Wine

Graffigna Centenario Centario Reserve Pinot Grigio 2008, San Juan, Argentina: A terrific and refreshing white with aromas of green melon, grapefruit and white flowers. Great as an aperitif or food companion. 93732 13.50% XD 750 mL  $14.94 Score: 88/100. June 12, 2009 Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar

Red Wine

Benmarco Dominio Del Plata Malbec Bonrada 2007, Mendoza, Argentina: Terrific balance in this wine oozing juicy ripe dark fruit balanced by mouth-watering acidity. Full-bodied and delicious, this is a blend of 90% Malbec and 10% Bonardo. Malbec contributes the richness and fruit depth, while Bonarda brings the zingy, mouth-awakening acidity. Aged 11 months in French and American oak. Superb effort. 14% XD 750 mL  $15.00 Score: 92/100. June 12, 2009 Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar
