Values Wine Picks August 3, 2012

Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: November 15, October 16, August 3 and June 18.

White Wine

Mouton Cadet Blanc 2011, Bordeaux, France: Generous and yielding with plump tree fruit aromas and flavours yet still beautifully structured, especially for this price. Aromas of lemon zest and chives. Great dinner party wine. Pair with: GRILLED FISH, SOLE MEUNIÈRE, SALMON WITH FRESH PASTA.. 2527 12.50% XD 750 mL  $13.45 Score: 89/100. Red Wine

Baron Phillippe De Rothschild Pinot Noir 2010, Languedoc-Roussillon, France: Bright tart cherry aromas with lots of terrific, mouth-watering acidity for food. Silky smooth and medium-bodied. This red cries out for a dinner companion. Pair with: CHICKEN BIRYANI, BEEF CARPACCIO, LAMB TAGINE. 628289 12.50% XD 750 mL  $11.95 Score: 87/100.
