Values Wine Picks September 2, 2009

Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: November 15, October 16, August 3 and June 18.

White Wine

Three Thieves Bandit Pinot Grigio 2007, California, United States: A simple, immanently quaffable white with tasty notes of limes and white melon. It comes in a TetraPak (gasp): get over it. Perfect for camping and picnics. 622019 13%  1000 mL  $12.95 Score: 84/100. September 2, 2009 Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar

Red Wine

Rosemount Estate Diamond Label Shiraz 2007, South Eastern Australia, Australia: A dependable, full-bodied Australian shiraz with dark red berries and plums. Some pepper and mint for an added twist. Full-bodied and smooth. Pair with: hamburgers, gourmet pizza, steak. 302349 13.50%  750 mL  $15.95 Score: 87/100. September 2, 2009 Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar
