Beauvignac Picpoul De Pinet Les Costières De Pomérols 2013, Coteaux Du Languedoc, Midi A.C., France: Green, lime, acidic: refreshing, and mouth-watering. Medium-bodied. Picpoul de Pinet is a grape varietal as well as an AOC wine. The grapes are grown on southern France's Mediterranean coast, though this comes off as very cool climate white wine: think Vinho Verde x 10. Pair with: wiener schnitzel and potato salad. Red Wine

Marziano Abbona Terlo Ravera Barolo 2008, Piedmont D.O.C.G., Italy: As brooding as Bach, as dark as Heathcliffe: this is a towering monument to all dark forces that move us to delight. Tannic, yes so it could use cellar time and certainly decant 1-2 hours when opening it. Dark fruit, tar, violets and truffles comingle and delight.
