Vintages Wine Picks November 24, 2007

White Wine

W. Gisselbrecht Gewurztraminer Réserve Spéciale 2005, AC Alsace, France: Vintages Wine Panel: Exceptional varietal character with aromas of lychee, dried roses, pear, sweet apple and fine perfume. Off-dry with very good aroma replays. My note: A classic gewürztraminer with everything you expect. Pair with: Asian dishes, sweet curries, stuffed pork tenderloin. 678003 13% D 750 mL  $15.95 Score: 90/100. November 24, 2007 Best Value White. Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar

Red Wine

Punt Road Pinot Noir 2005, Yarra Valley, Victoria, Australia: Vintages Wine Panel: Attractive light-to-medium-ruby color with a classic Pinot nose of cherry, cola, raspberry and a hint of beetroot. There is a fine structure between the pretty fruit and the acids and tannins. My note: A lovely medium-bodied wine with sweet cherry fruit. Pair with: duck, veal, braised lamb. 47654 13% XD 750 mL  $26.95 Score: 90/100. November 24, 2007 Full Review Add to: Shopping List Cellar
