Tasting note:

True character of Volpaia's 2008 Chianti Classico is a pretty, mid-weight offering informed by tobacco, flowers, herbs and cherries. As is often the case in cooler years, these high-altitude vineyards tend to yield a more ethereal style of wine. Still, this Chianti Classico finds its balance nicely with time in the glass. It is a model of restrained elegance. My note: Perfect for tomato sauce. sun-dried tomato and baked fruit with a mouth-watering juiciness, smooth texture. Food matches: tomato sauce. sun-dried tomato, baked fruit.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Ryan Hindmarsh rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Very nice Chianti here. Get on it. Made from cooler vineyards up on the hills of Tuscany. Its like Adele singing your favorite song on the piano. It looks pretty good, has some great raspy depth and packs a cute little zip. When you’re done chasing pavement, serve this with spaghetti and meatballs.
