Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

A robust and rustic red with tasty notes of black plums and cedar. Balanced and full-bodied. decant for 1-2 hours. Food matches: lamb souvlaki and greek potatoes.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Haut-Lucas is a blend of 90% Merlot mainly present for its fruity taste, and 10% Cabernet Franc to reinforce the structure and balance of the wine.

An aromatic wine with a deep, crimson and purple colour based upon a fantastic balance and fruity tannins. Nice and fresh, with red fruit and slight herb flavours.

The 2005 vintage received 90 points from Cepage Noir - This wine has a saturated purple color that is followed by an intense, room filling aroma of black berry, cassis and sweet new oak nuances. The palate offers a full bodied personality, with copious amounts of intense black berry fruit that practically bury the wine's impressive tannins. This is a wine that will be best with a couple years in the cellar, drinking well and impressing even the most well-educated with this region's best for many years down the road.
