Tasting note:

Barbe-Nicole Clicquot Ponsardin was just 27 when her husband died of a malignant fever leaving her with the winery and an eight-year-old daughter in 1805. Her aggressive export strategy to Russia during the Napoleonic wars earned her the top spot in that market for decades. This particular bubbly has a touch of white peach and tangerine sweetness that makes it perfect for glazed ham and chocolate-dipped strawberries. Food matches: smoked salmon, cream cheese and bagels.

Mark Britton rated this wine as 94/100 with the following review: A semi sweet, sparkling Champagne that is exquisite. Right at the start you get rich cookie flavours mixed with candied fruit, however on the palate the slight sweetness if balanced by some rich, fresh acidity. Serve as an after dinner cockatil or faired with dessert light in sweetness.
