The Canaiolo variety, which is the secondary grape in this blend, was actually once more important than Sangiovese in the Chianti recipe. Difficulties re-establishing Canaiolo following the Italian phylloxera outbreak in the late 1800s led to its overall decline, though it may still comprise as much as 10% of Chianti, as it does here. The Prestige offers nice fruity aromas and flavours of strawberry, cherry and candied apple. Source: Vintages Wine Panel
