Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: May 22, March 7, January 4 and December 16.

Tasting note:

A powerfully concentrated, rich and supple blend of Malbec (72%), Bonarda (16%) and Syrah (12%). Aromas of blackberries, black plums and mocha. This winery's name is for the three winds that blow through the Mendoza region of Argentina: Polar, Zonda and Sudestada (Southeast). The name of the wine means "beloved on," and refers to the fact that Malbec came from Bordeaux originally but fell in love with Argentina. Malbec, the country's flagship red grape, adds complexity and concentration, while Bonardo brings balancing acidity to the table and Syrah adds fruit freshness. In my Drinks Matcher (www.nataliemaclean.com/matcher), I pair this wine with many savory meat and spicy dishes. A wonderful combination! This wine will be included in the Vintages October 24, 2009 release, but you may find it elsewhere before then.
