Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

A rich and deeply layered red with gorgeous notes of black plum, blackberry and mocha. Some dark pepper and spices with a coffee-infused finish. Part of the Vintages Essentials Collection. Superb! Food matches: The perfect accompaniment to starters (cured meats, vegetable rice dishes and paellas), as well as the finest meat and games recipes, without forgetting cheeses. Serve at 17ÂșC. Properly cellared it will improve over the next 10 years..

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Travis Oke rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Deep dark colour, prominent tobacco nose, delicious fruits with aged (softened) tannins - but not too soft. Upgraded from 89 to 91 after it cellared for another year and then opened up beautifully after decanting.
Great price for a big Spanish wine
Colleen rated this wine as 90/100
Emily reviewed this wine as follows:

Same vineyard as esmarelda
Balanced aroma of spices (black pepper) and jam (cherries), complemented by notes of oak ageing (toasted bread, toffee). Broad and complex palate with a structure of silky tannins prolonged towards nuances of jam and coffee.
