Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
 | Syrah is an astonishing South Okanagan success story. Our hot, dry growing conditions are uncannily similar to Syrah’s home base in the Northern Rhone, and clearly syrah is at home here too. The initial vintages of our Syrah came from the “Side Hill” Syrah at our Tinhorn Creek Vineyard on the Golden Mile Bench. The 2006 Oldfield Series Syrah is the first vintage to include the Syrah grown in our Diamondback Vineyard on the Black Sage Bench. This Syrah was aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak. It was then blended together in stainless steel tanks before bottling. It then spent a year in bottle before release.
The 2006 Oldfield Series Syrah is an intriguing amalgam of Old World and New World styles, with plenty of Rhone-like herbal, smoky, leathery, gamey aromas and flavours to counterbalance the exuberant pepper, spice, and blackberry flavours associated with the New World Syrah style |
