Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: May 22, March 7, January 4 and December 16.

Tasting note:

A rich, round and full-bodied Chardonnay with terrific balance and mouth-watering acidity (which makes it great with food). Lovely notes of green apples and a lick of buttery goodness on the finish. Ideal for book clubs, knitting groups and people who just like to get together with friends and have no particular goal in mind. Food matches: white meat, poultry, pasta and seafood.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Stoneleigh Chardonnay is pale straw in colour. The nose has vibrant fruit intensity with nectarine and peach characters evident in both the aroma and palate. There are also nuances of ripe citrus and melon and a fine layering of oak complexity. The palate shows textural weight and balance with a soft creaminess.

The unique terroir, where the Stoneleigh vineyards lie, defines the wine’s independent qualities. Located on the
northern side of the Wairau valley, in close proximity to Marlborough’s main river, the Wairau, the winegrowers
have located the vineyards on deep, infertile gravel beds covered in smooth ‘sunstones’. These sunstones reflect
the sun’s heat during the day, assisting ripening, while cool nights maintain intense fruit flavours. These factors
combine to produce a wine with its own unique ‘place’.
The winemaker harvests the fruit at peak intensity looking for both fresh and ripe fruit properties. By minimizing
winemaking intervention, the wine is able to express perfectly its unique origin.

Serve this wine between 55-60 degrees Farenheit or 12-16 degrees Celsius. Tip: If your bottle is at room temperature, put it in ice water for about 30 minutes or in the fridge for about three hours to chill it.
