Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: May 22, March 7, January 4 and December 16.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Vintage Conditions:
The weather conditions for the 2006 harvest were characterised by high summer temperatures and drought conditions in August and September. These conditions were favourable for excellent ripening in terms of both sugar and polyphenol compounds.

Winemaking:
Slow fermentations, at controlled temperatures, in stainless steel tanks of 33,600 litres and daily pumping-over to ensure greater extraction of flavours. Malolactic fermentation was then carried out. After fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months in American oak.

Tasting notes:
Solar de Samaniego Crianza is a wine with deep intensity of colour with a predominance of bluish hues. It is a highly aromatic wine in which you can mainly find the fruit (cherries, plums, blackcurrants, strawberries, and raisins) well integrated with the toasted aromas acquired from the oak. In addition, in the mouth it proves potent and persistent, making it the perfect partner for heavier, stronger-flavoured dishes.

AWARDS:
Silver in Decanter World Wine Awards 2010
Bronze in International Wine & Spirit Competition 2010
Silver in CINVE 2010

Yes, I'm a certified sommelier and was named the World's Best Wine Writer at the World Food Media Awards. Blah, blah, blah. What really matters is that I know which wines can increase your hedonistic happiness... a lot. Don't worry, spam doesn't pair well with wine!
