Tasting note:

A big whopper of a wine with tarry and black fruit notes. An underpinning of violets and vanilla smoke lift the mid-palate before a long, satisfying finish. Aged in small oak barrels, 50% of which were new. Food matches: beef stew, hamburgers, hard cheeses, grilled vegetables, wild board, chocolate-covered almonds.
