Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

A remarkable wine that needs more cellar time. Massive and towering with deep, dark, rich black fruit aromas and smoke. Good tannic grip. Decant for 2 hours.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Megan reviewed this wine as follows:

This baby needs some time to breathe. Or some vigorous swirling in a decanter or a run through the Soiree, which was our solution. On the nose I found black cherry, blackberry, dusty chocolate, baking spice, cinnamon, blueberry pie, and vanilla. I thought it smelled a lot like my kitchen after baking cookies. In the mouth I got blackberry, black fruit, pepper, spice, more pie, and currants. The Symmetry has tannins and the acidity to carry it through many years in your cellar, though with a good bit of time in the glass, we very much enjoyed it right now as well.
The 2007 Symmetry greets you with a generous bouquet of blackberries, ripe dark
plums, sweet spices, and pie crust. It opens boldly on the palate with layers of
blackberry, cassis, dark chocolate and brown spice. This mouth-filling wine is rich,
silky in texture, expansive, and quite long on the finish, and manages to be at once
harmonious, powerful, and elegant. Intended to be enjoyable on release, Symmetry is
destined for years of further evolution in the bottle. Savor it!
