Rocca Delle Macìe Chianti Riserva Sangiovese 2005
Tasting note:
Vintages Wine Panel: This is an exceptional value for Chianti! The aromas are intense, showing black cherry, dried mixed berries, forest floor, new leather, sweet spices and licorice notes. It’s dry, medium-bodied and very well balanced, with good fruit intensity and hints of pencil shavings leading to a medium-long, toasty finish. Extremely food-friendly, it will make a fine match for roasts, homemade meatballs, meatloaf or gourmet pizzas. My note: Mocha, black cherry goodness. Terrific wine for the money. Rich, warm, smooth layers of blackberry and black plum with a coffee-tinged finish. More New World cabernet than Chianti to me, but heck it’s good wine so let’s not quibble. Food matches: sausages, lasanga, pizza.
