Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Opens with ripe cassis, fleshy blackberries and black plums. Followed nicely by some dried tobacco and herbs on the palate with a spicy finish. Full-bodied and delicious. Food matches: grilled red meats, rack of lamb, robust winter vegetable stews and stuffed grilled portabello mushrooms.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
The three varietals in this classic cuvée include 47% Merlot, 46% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Cabernet Franc. Average Brix levels of the three wines reached 22.5° Brix. The vines were all harvested from Reif Estates 125 acre vineyard located adjacent to the Niagara River, midway between Lake Ontario and the Niagara Escarpment. The grapes were harvested Oct. 18, 2007 and Nov. 6, 2007.
The juice was pressed from clean, ripe fruit underwent fermentation for 18 days, using selected yeast. Oak barrel aging in predominantly French Oak with 10% Hungarian and American Oak which contribute to the distinct intensity of this superior red wine.
