Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

The best Canadian foch-based wine I've ever tasted: wow! Smoky, savoury, intense and complex. A full-bodied red that delivers maximum pleasure. Food matches: Angus beef ribeye, cauliflower purée, new potatoes, buttered broccoli, and Marchand de Vins butter.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Harvested in October 2009, our Old Vines Foch Reserve is made with fruit handpicked from 46 year old vines planted in Quails’ Gate Estate Vineyard by Richard Stewart Jr.
A French hybrid with very small compact berries, it
combines Old and New World wine styles with bright
acidity, intense dark fruit and complex earthy notes.
Fermented with vigorous French yeast strains and barrel aged for 18 months in new, 100% American Oak barrels. This wine will reward careful cellaring of up to 5 years.
