Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: May 22, March 7, January 4 and December 16.

Tasting note:

A serious, deep, rich Merlot with seemingly endless layers of plush black plums and berries. Fine tannins give a superbly smooth mouth-feel. The grapes for this wine were harvested in October 2007 so they had pletny of time to develop rich and complex flavours. More than 90% comes from Quails' Gate Boucherie Mountain vineyards. Food matches: beef or pork tenderloin.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
2007 was a favourable year for Merlot with good heat throughout the growing season and cool nights in October to preserve the fruits flavour and acidity. Spontaneous yeast fermentation and extended skin contact give this wine rich colour and extraction with great complexity. Prior to blending and bottling this wine was barrel aged in 1 year old French and American oak for 18 months and will continue to improve with careful cellaring up to 5 years.

Fragrant aromas of ripe plum mingle with sweet, smoky, toasty oak to make the first sip irresistable. Fine ripe tannins bring a lingering, velvety finish to the palate.

Serve this wine between 60-65 degrees Farenheit or 15-18 degrees Celsius.
