Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: Here’s the debut vintage of Peter Lehmann’s exciting new brand called Layers. The name is suggestive of the ‘layers of flavour’ found in these wines. This red blend is comprised of 46% Shiraz, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Grenache, 17% Tempranillo and 2% Carignan. Each variety is fermented and matured separately for seven months in a mix of seasoned French and American barrels. Filled with blackberry, cherry, plum, cedar and underbrush aromas, it’s made to be enjoyed young. My note: deep, round and delicious. Loaded with black plum, blackberry and mocha notes. Supple and full-bodied. Terrific wine! Food matches: grilled steaks, gourmet burgers, sausages.
