An easygoing, crowd-pleasing Merlot brimming with black cherry, blackberry and cassis fruit along with hints of spice and mint. It's round, fruit-driven and nicely balanced with a gently spicy finish. Pair with Texas-style chili beef brisket. (VINTAGES panel, Aug. 2012)

Napa Cellars winemaker Joe Shirley was pursuing a career in sports medicine when tasting some good wines forever changed his trajectory. He went on to earn his Master of Science in Enology at UC Davis and has been making wine in California ever since. An easygoing, crowd-pleasing Merlot brimming with black cherry, blackberry and cassis fruit along with hints of spice and mint.
