Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

I adore this style of Chardonnay! It's buttery and generous but balanced with a lovely streak of acidity. Enticing notes of hazelnut, green apples and ripe pear. Food matches: penne with grilled chicken and sun-dried tomato pesto sauce.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
The wine produced was from a total harvest of 6 tonnes from silt loam over gravels with a limestone influence and easy draining, and 15 tonnes from heavy, very fertile, reasonably free draining clay loam soils.

The Chardonnay 2006 Vintage was produced from Clones Mendoza and 2/23 harvested in April 2006, from Mount Cass Vineyards. Stainless Steel fermentation and lees aging with 50% malolactic fermentation produces a complex full flavoured style. The wine was stored for 6 months in a mix of new and older French Oak barrels, and released after allowing a minimum of six months bottle age.

The wine shows a combination of flavours, with the free draining soil site showing citrus fruit and elegance, while the clay loam adds ripe melon and richness which are balanced by spicy toasted French oak. Further cellaring will enhance all the other subtle characters that make Chardonnays so interesting and complex.

Serve this wine between 55-60 degrees Farenheit or 12-16 degrees Celsius. Tip: If your bottle is at room temperature, put it in ice water for about 30 minutes or in the fridge for about three hours to chill it.
