Tasting note:

Quintessentially Italian red with black fruit and smoke and a long, pleasantly bitter finish. Full-bodied and supple. Food matches: roast beef and root vegetables, osso buco.

Rated 2 Glasses (out of 3) in Gambero Rosso 2011. Aromas suggest rose water, raspberry, plum/prune, smoked meat, tar and tobacco. Dry and extracted (with the fruit and smoked meat prominently replayed) with solid, velvety tannins and fairly fresh acids. There’s a spicy fruit core here on the mid-palate leading to an impressive finish. This could easily reward another year or two in a cellar, but will also dance its little dance tonight.
