Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: This wine is named for a young blacksmith who emigrated to Australia from Prussia in 1843 and helped build the village of Langmeil. Matured in French oak (20% new) for 18 months, it’s made in a fruit-forward style, bursting with blackcurrant and blackberry aromas as well as notes of mint, vanilla and earth. Dry, medium full-bodied with generous fruit flavors balanced by medium tannins and acidity. Serve it over the next 3-5 years. My note: A long, lovely pure expression of black fruit and smoke. This full-bodied wonder has good acidity and a balanced structure. A rock solid effort from this producer. Food matches: steak florentine, lamb chops, pheasant, Ethiopian lamb dishes, mustard greens.
