Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: Deep ruby. Possesses aromas of cassis, ripe berries, mulberry, bell pepper, and herbs. The flavours carry the aromas deeper, with added notes of oak and earth. Medium to full bodied, with velvety tannins and good length, this dry Portuguese red shows some complexity. You can keep it for a few years, or savour it tonight. My note: Juicy purple plums and berries with some great depth of flavour, especially for this price. Full-bodied and smooth, quaffable! Food matches: rich beef stew, pasta and meat sauce.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Dan Trcka rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

The 2006 José Maria Da Fonseca José De Sousa made of 33% Trincadeira, 45% Grand noir and 22% Aragonês is medium bodied with integrated notes of prune, smoke and cedar. Tannins are refined (decant for 30 min), acidity is nice and refreshing and the finish is smooth and medium to long. My impression: very NICE, 88.5 pts - recommended buy, especially at this discounted price. Tasted Jan/11.
