Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Savory, dark and rich with a Bordeaux-like elegance and balance. Finesse and structure yet lip-smacking delicious aromas of cassis, blackberry, dried herbs and a smoky finish. Full-bodied yum. Food matches: grilled steak.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Unique among Sonoma County’s AVA’s, the Alexander Valley is less influenced by the cooling maritime breezes as are the Russian River Valley and the Dry Creek Valley. What typifies this appellation is its endless sun-drenched days, which contribute to the Alexander Valley’s signature concentrated style.
The 2006 vintage in the Alexander Valley produced and abundance of the characteristic elegance normally associated with our Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by surprising power and weight.
This classic 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon has intense aromas of cassis, dark berries and toasty oak. The firm, velvety tannins are complemented by flavors of blackberry, raspberry, cedar, and tobacco with hints of vanilla and dark chocolate that linger in a long, elegant finish.
