There’s no disputing that this wine is ripe, but its balance and its stunning appointment of well-defined fruit are keen reminders enough that ripe wine, when balanced, can be delicious. This one, in fact, goes beyond being tasty and delivers complexing elements of briary spice and sweet oak that make it a decidedly interesting Zin. It runs into some very evident tannin and fights with a bit of finishing heat, but it still earns high marks for its richness and depth, and it has terrific potential for another four to six years of growth.
