Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Mocha rich nose with vibrant, fleshy black cherries. A silky, medium-bodied texture with a long, espresso-infused finish. This wine was aged in French oak barrels for 10 months.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
The 2007 Reserve Pinot Noir is a blend of three Dijon clones, 667, 777 and 115, all grown in the vineyard surrounding our winery. The grapes were hand picked in early October 2007. Each vineyard block and individual clone was processed separately. Hand sorting of all grapes ensures only suitable grapes make it into the wine. The sorted grapes were de-stemmed and lightly crushed into open top tanks, leaving 20% of the fruit as whole berries.

In the fermenting tanks, the grapes were left to cold soak for up to a week. After this, the tanks were either inoculated with selected yeast strains, or allowed to ferment with wild yeasts. During fermentation, the skins of the berries were plunged down 4 times a day to extract colour, flavour and tannin from the skins.

Once fermentation was completed, the wine was drained off the skins by gravity to 100% French oak barrels, 50% of which were new. Initial barrel aging took place from October 2007 to July 2008, and Malolactic Fermentation was completed in the spring of 2008.

The Reserve Pinot Noir will only be made in exceptional vintages, as was the case in 2007. This wine represents the very best of what this vintage has to offer. In mid July, the finest Pinot barrels were hand selected, blended together and placed into older French oak barrels where they further developed and matured over next 10 months.
