Ultra-plush red for diehard merlot fans seeking the Platonic ideal of merlot. Fleshy black plums and some smoke wrap themselves around your senses. Slide into this wine and enjoy. Food matches: bison burgers, steaks.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Lesley rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Duckhorn has a wide selection of top notch varietals but they do Merlot best in my opinion. This vintage does not disappoint. Plums, and Black Cherries greet you, rounded off sensationally with herbal tannins. I love this wine with a Pork Chop in a Cinnamon Apple Sauce.
Founders Daniel and Margaret Duckhorn have firmly established Duckhorn Vineyards as a winery with an unquestioned reputation for quality and excellence. Excelling at producing top wines from classic Bordeaux varietals, they have a particular gift for creating outstanding Merlot. They are recognized as the producers of benchmark Napa Valley Merlot since Duckhorn’s debut in the late 1970s. Refined and complex aromas of blackberry, plum, vanilla and black cherry are in abundance here. Cellar it 3-5 years, or enjoy it tonight.
