Douglas Green St. Augustine Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Shiraz 2006
Tasting note:
An excellent value for this price! Terrific structure and balance with classic aromas of cassis, blackberry and black cherry liqueur. Food matches: pasta, braised meats.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
 | This wine, the St. Augustine, is one of South Africa’s most popular and storied red wine blends – first produced in the 1940s. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Shiraz. It is named for the first Saint of Africa, St. Augustine, and when poured produces a deep garnet color. On the nose, you will detect plum jam notes along with some leather and spice. On the mouth, expect more black cherry, plums, and spice. It is a hearty wine perfect for heavy meals, like pasta or anything braised and served with potatoes. Score: 4 (out of 5).
