Creamy briars, white pepper, warm spice and distinct minerals on the nose, which continue on the palate with a touch of wood smoke and faint garrigue on the finish.

So fresh still for a 2007. Cairanne is now known as the briar patch for me. Making a serious challenge for Most Improved Player in the Rhône. I'm 90 on this. (ottawawinejournal.com)
Perhaps it is this wine’s elevated proportion of Carignan (15%) that gives it such a lovely and distinctive perfume, incorporating hints of ground pepper, cinnamon or clove, and ripe cherries. It’s medium in body, verging on creamy in texture because of the supple tannins, and features plenty of spice on the long finish. Drink now- 2015. Score: 91 Source: Joe Czerwinski, Wine Enthusiast
