Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: Domaine Berthoumieu is one of Madiran’s most reliable producers and this approachable cuvée, which features the native Tannat variety, is a great example of this appellation’s modern reinterpretation of its signature red grape. It’s a classic local blend of 55% Tannat, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Pinenc. My note: A corpulent wine loaded with cranberry, cherry liqueur, dried tobacco leaves and cigar box. Polished silky tannins give way to incredible length on the finish. Food matches: veal marsala, grilled eggplant, tacos, spicy sausages, corned beef and cabbage, beef daube.
