Grasa is an extremely rare grape, with only 450 hectares of total acreage in the world, and all of it in Romania. Grasa can create voluptuous, full-flavoured, ripe and round wines, and is used to produce both dry and semi-sweet styles. In this case, the grapes were allowed to develop the favourable botrytis cinerea, known as “noble rot,” which is the hallmark of many of the world’s great sweet wines, such as Sauternes.
