Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: May 22, March 7, January 4 and December 16.

Tasting note:

Lovely floral aromas with peach blossom palate. Wonderful blend of tangerine zest and honeysuckle, yet this is a dry and refreshing white. Break out of your Chardonnay rut tonight with this wine. Unoaked yet packed with flavour. Simply brilliant! Food matches: pan-seared arctic char with a citrus glaze, tender greens with a lemon poppyseed vinaigrette.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:

Did not buy. Recommended by NM
When Paul Bosc played with both Musque clones, 77 and 809 he found clone 809 produced a more aromatic wine. Today Chateau des Charmes Chard Musqué is 100% clone 809. Their 809 vines are 12-15 years old and are in their prime producing phase. Clone 809 is notoriously challenging in the vineyard because it is more cold sensitive than other Chardonnay clones and prone to breaking down so it must be carefully and meticulously tended. The CdC vineyard team hand sort and clean all the bunches while they are still hanging in the vineyard with only the best used in this wine. This minimizes the risk for VA and produces a concentrated finished wine. This is important because the wine doesn’t not spend any time in oak and goes through a partial malolactic fermentation. The true beauty of the wine shines. This wine was chosen as one of the “Cool Chardonnays” showcased in London this past May.

Serve this wine between 55-60 degrees Farenheit or 12-16 degrees Celsius. Tip: If your bottle is at room temperature, put it in ice water for about 30 minutes or in the fridge for about three hours to chill it.
