Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: The Pelizzatti family, owners of Chakana, can trace their winemaking roots back five generations to 19th-century northern Italy. Today, there are Pelizzattis making wine on both sides of the ocean. Sourced from 35-year-old vines and aged in a combination of French and American oak for one year, this round, full-bodied Cab features cassis, blackcurrant, black pepper, tobacco, vanilla and olive notes supported by firm tannins and balancing acidity. My note: Here’s another lip-smacking delicious robust red that I’ve recommended for a number of years. Not only is it a terrific value, but it also boasts savory notes of black cherries, bacon fat, cedar, dark spices and oak. Grippy tannins would indicate decanting for an hour or two is in order. You won’t be disappointed with this wine. Food matches: beef wellington, roast beef tenderloin, tongue, romano cheeses, Thai coconut shrimp, tacos.
