Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: The deeply coloured, fragrant and tannic Baga grape accounts for 90% of all red wines in the Bairrada district. This version successfully tames the tannins without sacrificing the fruit. Cherry, new leather, black plum and raspberry are the prime aromas here. Dry with plump fruit that is balanced ably by moderate tannins and soft acids. Cellar it short term (1-3 years). My note: rustic and tannic with tasty notes of blackberry and cedar. Full-bodied. Knock it back! Food matches: rich meat-based pasta dishes, slow-cooked roast beef.
