Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Vintages Wine Panel: Spanish wines may just offer the best value-for-money in all of Europe. This Reserva from Rioja, the heart of Spain’s winemaking culture, is mellowed enough by its extended ageing to enjoy now, but it will also reward cellaring for another decade. My note: This wine is made from the Tempranillo grape and was matured for 16 months in French and American oak. Lovely notes of black cherry, leather, violets and cigar box. More than flavor, this wine excels in texture: supple, soft and caressing: it’s spectacular. Long finish.
