If you’re looking for a vintage date for this wine, don’t bother. Winemaker Austin Hope aims to produce wines that simultaneously display the depth of wines that have spent time maturing, and the fresh, forthrightness of younger ones. Therefore, he blends two, sometimes three vintages together to achieve the style he’s looking for. Inky purple in hue, with a blast of fresh jammy fruit – juicy blackberry and plum – with licks of red licorice, herbal cherry, dark chocolate and zippy spice … Meat and tomato-sauced pasta or casseroles would work well with this.
