Note: I publish batches of reviews that I call Good Values Wine Picks. These are from the regular section of the liquor store rather than the Vintages section, and tend to be lower priced and the most widely available of all wines. The last four reviews I did were: March 7, January 4, December 16 and November 20.

Tasting note:

Loaded with fresh mango and tropical fruit notes. This is exceptional value and quality for the price. Some pink grapefruit and green melon on the finish. Mouth-watering a dn delicious as an aperitif or versatile food companion.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Peter Wilkins rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Good w citrus fish
A beautiful yellow pale colour similar to straw and slight greenish tones on the edge of the glass are characteristics of this wine. For this vintage 2009 there is a predominance of tropical fruit aromas such as guava, grapefruit and tangerine. A touch of mineral notes intermingles perfectly with the fruit achieving a pleasant combination. On the palate, the wine is tasty, fresh, very stimulating, ending with a well balance between acidity and sweetness.

Vintage Note

As usual this variety offers us a special challenge during harvest. For all the Chilean valleys, this season was one of the warmest in the last years. For this reason it was necessary to wait for the right moment to harvest. Starting by the end of February with good acidity levels, March went on and minerality and lime notes changed to apple and peach fruit notes, even though freshness was kept since all the fruit was harvested before the 20th of March.

The good summer weather was managed correctly through foliage and irrigation in order to protect the grapes from the sun rays and preserve the aromas and flavours of this delicate variety.

Fermentation and Aging

Most of the grapes were gently destemmed and cold macerated before being pressed off. Fermentation process was carried out with a clean must and with temperatures between 13º Celsius and 15º Celsius (57°-66°F). These temperatures were held low to preserve freshness, aromas, and intensity in the wine. After approximately three weeks, all the sugar levels had turned into alcohol. Our Caliterra Reserva Sauvignon Blanc is not aged in barrels and the first bottles are ready just after fermentation.

Serve this wine between 55-60 degrees Farenheit or 12-16 degrees Celsius. Tip: If your bottle is at room temperature, put it in ice water for about 30 minutes or in the fridge for about three hours to chill it.
