Tasting note:

This wine is a blend of 80% tempranillo and 20% mazuelo. Savoury and juicy: I’ve been a fan of this wine for many years. Lovely aromas of leather and dried tobacco with some herbs. Terrific dark berry core.

Opinions about wine differ greatly as the experience is subjective. You may find it helpful to compare this critical evaluation of the wine with mine as well as your own:
Travis Oke rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review:

I am so glad I bought three bottles. Deep ruby colour, vanilla notes on the nose, so smooth - the tannins are perfect with grilled lamb and ribeye
Dan Trcka rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The 2004 Bodegas Lan Viña Lanciano Reserva is medium bodied, nicely aromatic, fruity to INTEGRATED wine. On the nose and especially at the beginning, yogurty cherry is predominant, followed by cedar and green pepper. On the palate, red cherries and dark chocolate emerge. Tannins are subtle to refined (decant for 30 min), acidity is nice and in balance with tannins and the finish is long, smooth and silky. It is good to drink now and will remain so for more than 5 years (especially with a nice > 5 cm cork). My impression NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 91 pts - a recommended buy even though a bit $$. Tasted June/11.
Ruby-red. Dark cherry, licorice and smoke on the nose, complicated by musky earth and tobacco nuances. Chewy and rich on the palate, which displays sweet red and dark berry liqueur flavours and powerful tannins. Finishes with serious grip and a penetrating smoky note. This needs time.
